Shannon Risacher, PhD

Dr. Risacher’s research is primarily focused on the use of neuroimaging and other biomarkers for the detection and diagnosis of dementia. Her ongoing projects are designed to evaluate the role of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and positron emission tomography (PET) techniques in the detection, monitoring, and prediction of neuropathological changes in prodromal stages of dementia, most especially Alzheimer’s disease. She recently completed her doctoral thesis entitled “MRI Measures of Neurodegeneration as Biomarkers for Alzheimer’s Disease,” which was the culmination of 5.5 years of research in the fields of neuroimaging, neurodegeneration, and general neuroscience.
